The day-to-day management of a union is not a haphazard process, but one which requires a serious and specific plan and leadership skills to carry it out. This class will carefully examine all the elements necessary to build your union for the future: serving your members and organizing new members.

This course will cover:
• 21st Century challenges and tools for the contemporary union
• Methods in building a strong union (including developing a member organizing program)
• Elements of strategic planning and useful tactics
• Effective time management
• Use of on-line technology in unionbuilding

John Delloro is the Executive Director of the Dolores Huerta Labor Institute, LACCD and teaches classes at the Trade Tech Labor Center and at UCLA. He previously worked as a regional manager for SEIU Local 1000, staff director for SEIU Local 399, an organizer for Here Local 226 and AFSCME, a co-founder and board member of the Pilipino Workers Center and former president of Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, Los Angeles chapter.
